Meet the Artist

Hello friends! I am Theresa Ritter, an artist living and creating on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. Creating has always been a part of me! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest of Oregon & Washington with my sisters playing and creating. Our parents were both creatives who found relaxation in their hobbies. Mom quilted and dad loved wood-working. The creative bug goes further back though.

My grandmother and grandpa both painted. As a kid, seeing their art on the walls was so awe-inspiring. To me, they were famous! Watching Bob Ross with Grandpa was always fun. Over the years I painted a little off and on, somehow feeling like I had to be given permission to take it on more fully. In the meantime, I embraced paper-crafting, loved scrap-booking, rubber stamping and card making!

The itch to paint was always there though. About ten years ago, after losing my dad to cancer,  I delved in to painting. Soon I was painting commissions for friends and co-workers, still, I wasn't ready to call my myself an artist. In 2021 my husband and I relocated to Alaska and then it all clicked into place. I found a loving artistic community that encouraged me to grow and share my art. Alaskan scenery is an absolutely incredible inspiration for a landscape artist like myself! Creating and sharing it has brought me so much joy!

I'm so happy you have found my page! I hope that my work brings you joy too and helps remind you to slow down and look at the beauty that surrounds us daily.
