Summer Updates from Alaska
As we roll into August I am breathing a bit of sigh of relief, because July was so busy! With long daylight hours here in Alaska and a limited time to enjoy the weather, we all take full advantage of the days!
We were able to go spend the 4th of July at the Glacier View Car Launch which was quite the spectacle. Since it is too light here (and dry) for fireworks in July we save those for New Years! In lieu of this, this little resort came up with an idea to launch cars off a cliff for fun and it's been growing and gaining popularity for over 20 years now! It was a lot of fun! The scenery surrounding it was definitely filed away for future painting!
The other weekends and a few weeknights were dedicated to fishing! Halibut fishing out of Homer, Alaska and then, as residents, we have the opportunity to dip net the Kenai river in July for a specific number Salmon to fill up the freezers. It is such blessing to have all this beautiful fish to nourish us through winter. Thankfully, all this fun and hard work is surrounded by the best views you could ask for! I did some water coloring in the boat too! Truly a landscape artist's dream!
In between, I squeezed a few more things into my storefront for you to enjoy! I hope summer has treated you well and you enjoy the next few weeks as we roll into fall. Don't forget to enjoy the beauty in where you live too!
