The wonderful thing about crafting is that it is an amazing outlet for pouring your heart out. Whether it be for happy or sad occasions. Often times I am driven to create when circumstances make me feel a strong emotion. Having lost a parent in the last few years makes me particularly empathetic to anyone else I know who suffers the same loss. Recently one of my lovely coworkers lost her mother so when the office needed a card to sign, I volunteered to make one.

I stamped out this Colorado Craft Company image from set called “Better Together” and colored using COPIC markers. Since I neglected to purchase the matching die, I used scissors and an x-acto knife to cut the little critters out.
For the card base, I started with white folded cardstock . I used Ranger Distressed Oxides to create my background image. I blended four colors to create a sunset background using blending brushes.
I prepared to adhere the critters I trimmed out earlier by using foam double stick adhesives(these were Stampin’ Up! brand) to pop them up on front of the card.
I used a sentiment from the “Everyday Sayings” stamps by Hero Arts on the front and on the inside. Want to know a secret? I messed up when I stamped the inside so I re-stamped it, sponged edges and then layered on colored cardstock to cover the boo-boo. Not a mistake, merely an embellishment opportunity!

After adding a little bit of a shadow behind the critters and letting my coworkers add notes inside, we were able to present the finished product! My coworker was very pleased and told me she really liked it. Hearing that always makes me happy. Go get crafty it’s good for your heart!
