Market Poster Sketch

March 15, 2021 by TR 2 Comments

If there’s one crafting tool that I am learning to truly love, it is probably COPIC Sketch markers. I have been slowly accumulating them over the last few years. This past Christmas, Santa was kind enough to bring me a 72 piece set! Experimenting with them has been very enjoyable!

When an opportunity presented itself in February to enter a contest to create a poster for our local farmers market I decided to give it a shot! I love to paint, but thought I’d try my hand at using my markers to create an entry poster!

Today I wanted to share the steps in my process to making my first large scale drawing in ink. COPICS are super fun! I still have a ton of stuff to learn and I realize the best way to do that is to play with them! Give a COPIC Sketch marker a try sometime, you may love them too!

My very rough sketch idea
More or less done here.
I sketched everything in pencil and then slowly filled in each item and erased lines as I went.
More progress.
Experimented with font layouts before scanning into the computer to add fonts to it.
The end results. Here I am with my original alcohol ink sketch on the left and on the right, the scanned in, complete version of my work to submit to the committee to judge. Not the winner, but still a great learning experience! ❤️ Theresa
