Forgotten Crafting Tools: The Paper Crimper (plus goodie bag tutorial)

March 4, 2021 by TR Leave a Comment

Going to throw it way back today! Come on everyone! You know you’ve got tools in your craft room, collecting dust. The ones you had to have for the latest technique a decade ago!

I’m sure I’ve probably had this particular tool for even longer than a decade! Cleaning the craft room is always like Christmas when you find goodies you’ve long forgotten about! Today’s find is the good ol’ Fiskars Paper Crimper. I’m not sure they even make them anymore but you can still find it online to purchase.

I wanted to make a quick little rolled tube to stuff some M&M’s in for my sweet coworker. I added an image from the wonderful Kindred Stamps company to top it off!

Ingredients:

  • Cardstock for tube: I used pink polkadot BAZZIL cardstock from 2014 (working on my paper stash!)
  • Trimmer
  • Strong double-side adhesive tape
  • Paper Crimper
  • Cardstock to stamp image on
  • Image stamp: I used Artsy Annie from Kindred Stamps
  • Memento Ink-Tuxedo Black
  • COPIC markers
  • Chocolate or other treat of choice

Start with your cardstock for the tube. I’m not going to give dimensions as you can totally tailor it to fit whatever you are stuffing inside! In my case it was a bag of M&Ms. Make the piece large enough to wrap around your item and have overlap so you can adhere it at seam to close. You also want it long enough beyond the stuffing to be able crimp the ends closed.
Roll and use a strong adhesive tape on overlap to hold both edges together. Once this is done you can lay down to flatten. I squashed mine so the seam is in the back of my tube.
Run tape on inside edge of one end. Pinch sides together to close.
Crimp about an inch or so of end you taped. Insert your treat inside and repeat process to seal.
Embellish with your stamped images, ribbon or whatever! You could also use your crimper to make crinkled confetti to put inside your package! So easy and fun!
