A Sassy Birthday Card

March 2, 2021 by TR Leave a Comment

I have been stamping for years, starting over twenty years ago with good old red rubber stamps. Many stamping companies have moved into the world of clear stamps, opening doors for many small businesses to move into the market with their own designs. I have come to love these versatile stamps. It is important to me to source my stamps from small business where I can. I am happy to support them in their artistic endeavors and help them put food on the table for their families.

So many of these little companies have struggled with theft of their designs that are then mass produced overseas and sold super-cheap. This is devastating for these companies trying to compete. It is hard to enforce copyright infringements over international borders. Next time you are shopping for a great stamp, please think about the source, look for the small business first and buy direct.

One small business I’ve run across in the past year or so, is called “Sassy & Crafty“. They offer an ever changing array of cute clear stamps that are good quality and price points. They have great blog and facebook fan page to showcase their newest creations.

For today’s demo I am using a stamp set from their Sassy Girls collection. This set is called “Sweet“, it may be sold out and I am not sure if they will bring it back. You can always sign up with them for updates on it (in case they restock) or any of their other products!

Ingredients:

  • Cardstock for: Base, 2nd accent color & image layer
  • Memento Ink-Tuxedo Black
  • Stamp set of choice
  • COPIC markers
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive
  • Stamp platform if you have one or acrylic block
  • Stickles glitter glue
Trim all your layers of cardstock to prep for assembly.
I used my COPIC markers to put dots on the large light colored base layer.
Adhere layers together. You could use foam dots between the small layers and base if you want dimension.
Stamp and color your image.
I used Stickles glitter glue to give the girl some shimmery glasses!
I originally stamped a greeting in my card but realized I stamped it the wrong direction! Can you say embellishment opportunity?! I saved it by stamping it on something else and mimicking my layering and polka dots from the front! I like this even better!
